40 Nights of Rock & Roll

Welcome, friends, to the web log for upcoming documentary “40 Nights of Rock & Roll," a film by director Scott Sloan & former Paste magazine editor Steve LaBate.

40 Nights of Rock Archive: Day 11 video blog - Cowboy Jack Clement, Charlie Louvin, Shotgun Lover

Just a few days after the waters have receded from a flood-ravaged Nashville, Scott and Steve roll into town, meeting up with music legends Cowboy Jack Clement and the late Charlie Louvin, whose contributions helped lay the foundation for modern rock & roll.

Jack shows the fellas around his home studio, The Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa, before they head across town to East Nashville and film ballsy riff rockers Shotgun Lover at the same studio where Jack White and Loretta Lynn cut Van Lear Rose. The day’s video blog wraps with Shotgun Lover, Steve, Scott and their friend Nick trying to withstand the fiery blaze of a Nashville institution—Bolton’s Spicy Chicken & Fish.
